Combat · The Hex Doctrine

War is arithmetic,
written in mud.

Every march, every charge, every broken line resolves on a deterministic hex simulator. No dice you cannot see. No outcome you cannot replay.

· Anatomy of a Battle ·

Four moments, one ledger.

01

March

Armies move at real speed across real distance. A relief force three valleys away may arrive a turn too late.

02

Contact

Front lines meet on the hex grid. Terrain, weather, and morale set the modifiers before a blow lands.

03

Resolution

The simulator runs the engagement round by round, deterministically. Same inputs, same result, every time.

04

Ledger

Every loss is written to the battle ledger, auditable down to the unit. Glory and shame, both on the record.

Terrain & Maneuver

The ground fights too.

Forests blunt cavalry. Rivers force chokepoints. High ground multiplies your volley. Twelve terrain modifiers and rolling weather mean the same army wins or loses on where you choose to stand.

Twenty-one archetypes.
One triangle.

Spears brace against the charge, cavalry runs down the bowmen, archers thin the spear-line. Master the loop, then break it with siege, scouts, and heroes.

The Battle Ledger

Every defeat, auditable.

When a battle resolves, the full engagement is written to an immutable ledger entry: the seed, the modifiers, the round-by-round losses. Anyone can replay it and arrive at the same outcome.

No hidden rolls. No “the server ate my army.” If you lost, the ledger shows exactly why.
